All members are welcome to Club training, but they are generally aimed at players who are new to Touch, want to play socially, and want to improve their general fitness. We hold regular intra-club tournaments during our Sunday sessions to round off busy weeks with sweaty smiles. Sessions are game-based with a focus on basic Touch skills in passing, attack and defence to ensure everyone knows enough Touch to have fun!
The Development (Dev) and High Performance (HP) sections of the club comprise of our 4 competitive teams who proudly represent the University of Exeter at the University NTS (see University NTS), which has both mixed rounds and women’s/men’s rounds.
Our Dev coaches train our 3s and 4s three times per week on the 3G Rubber Crumb Pitch. They are in constant communication with our HP coach throughout the year to ensure continuity and that players’ hard work and discipline is rewarded. Training is centred on mastering basic skills of Touch, such as passing and rollballs, as well as developing an understanding of attacking and defensive play. We view Dev training sessions as a stepping stone to playing with the 1s and 2s in the HP section.
Our HP players come from a range of backgrounds with both international Touch players and some who have never even played Touch before coming to university! Our 1s were crowned champions of the University NTS in 2018 and 2020, with our 2s following closely behind!
At EUTRC, our coaches have high expectations of players’ attitude and expect them to approach training sessions with a smile and ready to work up a sweat!
